Social Media – Active Engagement – Business2Community Interview
I try to get a blog post out twice a week. I usually go with a Tuesday or Wednesday release as well as a Friday release. Well, today I’m going to work on my engagement a different way. Therefore, I’d like to leverage a wonderful interview that Business2Community released earlier this week (thanks Renee). It expresses my current views on social media, and how I got there. It also reiterates that I am not a ninja, guru, expert, maven or assassin. I am just learning as I go and endeavoring to make every decision based upon common sense and integrity.
Meanwhile, my engagement today will focus on a little #FollowFriday and active dialogue with my Tweeps this morning. I’m then going to follow that up by pushing away from the computer and having lunch with a great friend I’ve known for years.
I’ll then wrap that up with a Colorado Technology Association Education Committee meeting to discuss STEM initiatives in Colorado. I had the privilege of helping out with curriculum development for the Adams 12 STEM Magnet school last year. I also got to be there to help with rocket design and gave 2nd and 6th graders a presentation on How To Present. It is one thing to be a techie, but your ideas go nowhere if you cannot communicate (same thing applies to social media, huh).
In the Fall, I plan on running a seminar at the same STEM school to teach them the Physics of Martial Arts. This will probably involve some brick breaking (explaining “point loads” and spans) and Judo throws (explaining fulcrums, leverage…and my favorite partner “gravity”). In fact, I will get plenty of practice over the next couple of days because I am the uke for a judoka tester Saturday morning at Denver Judo. That means I will get thrown probably close to 100 times between tonight and tomorrow morning. It is the way I practice the principle of Mutual Welfare and Benefit.
If I’m not back writing a blog by Tuesday, that means I got dropped on my head or I’m in traction .
Have a fantastic weekend, folks. Go ahead…comment on what your plans are for the weekend. I hope it involves something active. Take an Offseason. That Klout score can always be restored come Monday.
