Give a Social Media Alley-Oop for a Slam Dunk

I love NBA basketball! Sure, I get tired of the prima donnas, arguments over money and revenue sharing and isolation plays. However, I enjoy the way the Denver Nuggets play team basketball. The teams that understand the Power of the Assist are exciting to watch.

Andre Miller is one of the best in the game at the alley-oop pass. His court vision, timing and accuracy lead to highlight reel dunks that make their way to the ESPN Top 10 Plays. Here is one of his latest alley-oop passes, from half-court with pinpoint accuracy, to JaVale McGee.

Now here are my questions for you…

  • When is the last time you gave an alley-oop social media assist to a tribe member?
  • When is the last time you unselfishly “paid it forward” by promoting someone’s blog or products with no thought of what you would get in return?
  • Do you look for perfectly timed opportunities to accurately support a tribe member’s viewpoint through retweets and blog comments?

There is a lesson to be learned from the above video: Both players made the highlight reel! When you commit to giving a well-timed assist to an online friend and supporter, you both win! That is the power of Return on Relationship!

Now here is my Call To Action for you…

I do not monetize this blog because it is meant to be my voice as we walk through learning about the power of social media together. However, my company does have an exceptional, enterprise-class social media monitoring tool called Pulse Analytics. My Call To Action for you: Sign-up for a demo, and we will show you this product using your company’s data. Give me the assist, and I will give you the slam dunk!

All brands can benefit from social media monitoring because their customers are talking about them. Pulse Analytics tracks mentions, measures sentiment, supports engagement and even correlates with Google Analytics, Facebook Insights and marketing campaign calendars. We relish giving Pulse Analytics demos to companies already familiar with enterprise-class monitoring tools. Put it this way – we come out looking very good, easy to use, and…wait for it…significantly less expensive! Here are a couple more of my blog posts on social media monitoring:

  1. [...] Alley-oop passes are special because they require timing between two players. Add the case where that pass is coming from past halfcourt, and it also requires court vision and pinpoint accuracy. Here is my favorite of the playoffs that prompted its own post on my blog. [...]
