Was fun to participate in my first Heckler's Hangout. Sorry I didn't really heckle him. Maybe next time! ;-)
Ah, Janice - I am sure you will be heckling like a pro after a few hangouts. Take tips from Margie...me, I'm the good cop, right?
Heckler’s Hangout #6 started out with technology issues and an identity crisis! First, I am traveling with my wife and youngest daughter to check out colleges on the East Coast (she wrote her first ever guest post on my blog yesterday). I knew traveling could present a challenge, and the hotel decided to oblige with 75 kbps internet connectivity (I normally get 15,000 – 20,000 kbps at home).
That wasn’t going to be enough bandwidth for a rowdy Hecklers’ Hangout, so drastic measures became necessary. For one night only – Margie Clayman became Brian Vickery! She logged into my Google+ account, after I changed the password to something clever she would enjoy, and she ran the Hangout. Watch out, Margie…being me can be addictive.
We then welcomed our special guest, Olivier Blanchard, to the program. I appreciate the social media monitoring topic because of our own products and an understanding that people are talking about brands at an unprecedented level across social channels. Olivier did a masterful job demonstrating how Tickr really enables an enterprise – big or small – to review and measure online discussions from an intuitive dashboard. Olivier has eclectic tastes, so we very quickly covered topics ranging from Lance Armstrong, to KitchenAid, to any recent mentions of zombie attacks. He truly is prepared for anything! Here are some takeaways I had from the demonstration:
Olivier also had stories to tell about items that showed up for the Hecklers’ Hangout camera…from what was on his shelf to what was hanging on his wall. However, you will just have to watch the video to hear the stories! Don’t mind the echo from Margie – she channeled me and briefly thought she was a rapper or Songify master (I’m neither, by the way). And notice great product placement strategy throughout – from the artfully created scarf that Olivier wore (courtesy of Margie Clayman) to the ever-present Social Media ROI book…you do have your own copy by now, right?
Catch Monday’s blog to get more details about our next Hecklers’ Hangout special guest – Dawn Rasmussen will be talking about her brand new book, Forget Job Security: Build your Marketability.
And as always – thanks for your heckles!!
