People who regularly read my blog know that I am a huge proponent of the Colorado Technology Association (CTA). This incredibly innovative and well-connected professional networking organization has two of its biggest events this week: Apex Awards and DEMOgala. I already did a blog about Apex Awards, so this post focuses on DEMOgala.
To put it in CTA’s own words…
The “must attend” event of the year, DEMOgala once again plays host to the companies that are shattering the status quo and redefining how we approach our personal, social and business lives. This inspiring, full-day event features cutting-edge demos, engaging keynotes, lively panel discussions and noted speakers from Colorado, the West Coast, the East Coast and everywhere in between. We’ve enhanced our program significantly with a focus on providing you Velocity in your efforts to grow your company, learn new insights and build lasting relationships!
You can view the entire day’s agenda here, but I wanted to pass along just some of the topics I plan to enjoy personally:
Demo Competition – CTA is upping the ante by providing a $25,000 prize to the winner of a live demonstration competition. Throughout the day, companies will have 4 minutes and 30 seconds to impress the judges with their latest innovations.
Denver Startup Week Sessions – DEMOgala is actually the climatic conclusion to Denver Startup Week. Additional sessions will still be going on Thursday.
Member Genius – we all love TEDx talks, right? Well, CTA decided to bring that format to DEMOgala. Twelve “geniuses” from the CTA membership will inspire and impress us with their in-depth knowledge and experience.
Invest4Tech – One of my favorite ways to volunteer is by teaching and coaching. CTA has granted me the opportunity to be part of the solution as an industry partner with Denver-area STEM schools . Invest4Tech is an “innovative mentoring program for high school students in partnership with Colorado businesses and the Aurora Public schools.”
Big Data – Since Mantis Pulse Analytics grabs enormous amounts of unstructured data from social media channels to allow companies to monitor the sentiment around their brands, the Big Data topic is near and dear to my heart.
ColoTechBuzz – The exhibit floors at a lot of trade shows can be mind-numbing and boring. CTA recognizes this, so they came up with ColoTechBuzz. Exhibitors are specifically tasked to be more interactive, so expect a lot more “buzz” throughout the day. Don’t be surprised if you see a robot, and I saw somebody preparing food with liquid nitrogen. OK, that is impressive with a significant “cool factor”!
I will be at both the Apex Awards and DEMOgala – networking, volunteering and tweeting! Come introduce yourself, and let’s do business and drive innovation in Colorado!
I love my wife and two daughters. I am blessed in that I also love my job as a principal and EVP of the Rocky Mountain Region for Mantis Technology Group. I am excited to promote our Pulse Analytics social media monitoring and sentiment analysis solution. I enjoy teaching and coaching. I graduated UT-Austin. You can find Brian on Google+.
Preparing food with liquid nitrogen is awesome! I think that alone would win the coolness factor for a dad if you could learn how to do that! I wonder if they would give lessons?
I told you this last time when you did the Apex Awards...I think this sounds like a great opportunity and can so tell you enjoy being a part of it! Keep up the great work Brian!
This chef was doing awesome things. There was another one where the truffles are floating/spinning in mid-air in a magnetic field or something. I can't wait to see what they do for ColoTechBuzz.
I do think that CTA is absolutely creative when it comes to these types of events. DEMOgala is a showcase for technology, Apex Awards is a celebration of technology, and then they do other events like "C-Level at a Mile High" and a wine-tasting professional networking event. And that is just the big events - they also have more targeted speakers/panels throughout the year to encourage entrepreneurship and the advancement of technology by big and small companies.
