We had an engaging Hecklers’ Hangout 9 with special guest Arie Moyal discussing HugTrain USA. Winter can bring on “seasonal affective disorder” for many people, and that includes depression around holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year.
Arie Moyal decided to be someone who makes a difference for these people…one hug at a time. This is his 4th year for HugTrain USA, and this man plans on traveling close to 7,500 miles by train as he crisscrosses the USA delivering kindness and compassion – while raising awareness of mental health issues – for folks who may have nobody else to turn to in this two-week period. He dedicates each annual trip to a specific person or event: this year is dedicated to the victims and survivors of the Aurora theater shooting on July 20, 2012.
Check out Arie’s slides on Slideshare, and I encourage you to watch the YouTube recording for this week’s Hecklers’ Hangout. You will not hear many heckles (well, maybe a few thrown Margie’s way just to keep our heckling reputation intact…and there was that whole “Bro-hug” discussion). However, you will hear praise, admiration and encouragement for this man with the “we first” attitude.
Follow the HugTrain USA itinerary as it gets finalized. If you want to donate to this cause, all donations go to Mental Health America. I know that I intend to be at the train station in Denver to get my hug and support this worthy pursuit.
We hope you’ve enjoyed our Hecklers’ Hangout online shows. Tune in next week where a recent schedule change opens the door for either an open mic called “Tall Tale Thursday” or perhaps a roast of my favorite co-host?
I love my wife and two daughters. I am blessed in that I also love my job as a principal and EVP of the Rocky Mountain Region for Mantis Technology Group. I am excited to promote our Pulse Analytics social media monitoring and sentiment analysis solution as well as our core software development and business intelligence services. I enjoy teaching and coaching, watching football and basketball, and playing tennis. I graduated UT-Austin. You can find Brian on Google+.
